Solomon's Passage Eiger Porcelain Planters

Solomon’s Passage, Rye

Main Contractor

Solomon’s Passage forms part of the wider Rye Parkside development, a modern residential scheme designed to create attractive, usable outdoor environments for residents.

Originally, bespoke steel planters had been specified for the project. However, extended lead times created programme pressures and risked delaying delivery on site.

To keep the project moving while maintaining the intended aesthetic, the team required an alternative solution that could be delivered faster, installed efficiently, and remain cost-effective without compromising the overall finish.

The Challenge

The project team faced a common but critical issue:

  • Bespoke steel planters came with significantly longer lead times
  • Delays risked impacting the wider project programme
  • A replacement solution needed to remain design-led and durable
  • Cost efficiency was also a key consideration

The challenge was finding a system that could bridge the gap between practicality, appearance, and programme demands.

Solution & Process

We proposed the Eiger Porcelain Planter System as an alternative to the original bespoke steel specification.

The modular system provided several immediate advantages:

  • Substantially reduced lead times
  • More cost-effective delivery compared to bespoke fabrication
  • A clean, contemporary finish aligned with the project aesthetic
  • Faster and simpler installation on site

To complement the planting scheme, the project also incorporated the MSE Eiger Modular Seating Kit, including both:

  • Recessed bench seating
  • Free-standing bench seating

This helped create integrated communal outdoor areas that felt both practical and considered, combining planting and seating into one cohesive design language.

The project progressed smoothly throughout delivery, with the modular nature of the systems helping streamline installation and coordination on site.

Outcome

  • Original programme pressures reduced through shorter lead times
  • Cost savings achieved compared to bespoke steel alternatives
  • Integrated planter and seating design delivered across the scheme
  • Smooth installation process with minimal disruption
  • Contemporary outdoor spaces completed in line with project requirements

Key Benefits

  • Faster lead times compared to bespoke fabrication
  • Modular design enabling efficient installation
  • Cost-effective without sacrificing visual quality
  • Flexible integrated seating and planter configuration
  • Durable solution suited to residential outdoor environments

Summary

Solomon’s Passage demonstrates how modular systems can provide a practical alternative to bespoke fabrication when programme pressures arise.

By switching to the Eiger Porcelain Planter System and integrated seating solutions, the project team was able to maintain the desired aesthetic while improving lead times, reducing costs, and keeping the development moving smoothly.
