International Way, Stratford

As part of the new Rondo development on International Way, Stratford, RYNO was selected to provide a durable and compliant decking solution for more than 230 balconies. Working in partnership with WRS Contracts and main contractor Telford Homes, RYNO supplied its TerraSmart® Aluminium Decking System, engineered for fire safety, longevity, and design precision.

What made this project a particularly interesting job was the balconies required curved balcony edge detail.

The Challenge

The Rondo development demanded a non-combustible, long-lasting decking system suitable for a large number of balconies – each designed to a high aesthetic standard and built for long-term performance. With a mix of curved and standard balcony layouts, the system needed to be adaptable, quick to install, and capable of achieving a consistent finish across all units.

The Solution

Working closely with WRS Contracts and Telford Homes, RYNO specified and delivered a complete TerraSmart® Aluminium Decking System finished in RAL 8017, achieving both the design intent and performance criteria required.

• Finish: RAL 8017 powder coating – providing a sleek, contemporary appearance that complements the building façade
• Application: Installed across over 230 balconies of varying shapes and layouts
• Performance: Euroclass A2-s1,d0 fire rating, slip-resistant to BS 7976-2:2002, and backed by a 30-year warranty with a 60-year design life

The precision-engineered decking system provided a free-draining solution ideal for waterproofed balcony structures, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety and performance standards while maintaining an elegant visual finish.
